MUNICIPAL WASTE Reveals Cover Art For 'Massive Aggressive'
June 5, 2009Richmond, Virginia crossover leaders MUNICIPAL WASTE will release their new album, "Massive Aggressive", on August 25 via Earache Records. According to a press release, the CD "brings the promise of the band's most ferocious and most focused album of their career." With such ferocity flowing through the whole of the album, the group knew it needed the right visuals to complement the vibe of the music. MUNICIPAL WASTE vocalist Tony Foresta claims that the only man who could get that imagery just right was Andrei Bouzikov, the artist responsible for the cover to 2007's "The Art Of Partying".
"We wanted to work with Andrei Bouzikov again because he is like a brother to us;" says Foresta. "He is one of the few people that can tolerate me and Ryan's insane pickiness and attention to detail. Not only that but he is multi talented and can do many different styles of art and understands exactly where we are coming from."
The attitude on "Massive Aggressive" is quite different than any other MUNICIPAL WASTE record and the band needed the artwork to make it apparent from the very first glance. "We knew we wanted to stray away from the traditional painted covers that so many new 'thrash' bands seem to be doing since 'Hazardous Mutation' came out," says Tony. "We wanted the artwork to go a different direction the same way that our music has. I think we have achieved it." Overall, Tony and the rest of the band feel it's a perfect representation of where the band is today and show much gratitude for how it turned out. "I'm really happy with it. It's my favorite one yet," the frontman says.
Fresh off of the biggest North American tour of its career, MUNICIPAL WASTE will soon be doing what it does best once again as the band is set to embark on a European tour in late June. However, before they even set foot overseas, the band will play one last gig in America and it promises to be a send-off of epic proportions. MUNICIPAL WASTE (and special guests TRAP THEM) have scheduled a show in Hollywood on June 10 at The Knitting Factory. This very special show is part of the Scion Metal Show series, sponsored by Scion and Vice. All that you have to do to be there is go to www.scion.com/metalshow and RSVP. Admission is free with each RSVP, but plan on getting there early. Space is limited and entry is not guaranteed.
